I took this photo a few weeks ago while waiting for an 8pm dance rehearsal in the Arts Plaza. I was laying down on the benches by the water fountain after a long day and looked up to this site. I was really struck by this image because the campus was completely dark and quite, yet the green pigment of the tree leaves really stood out against the darkness. There was one lamp outside near the tree that gave a little light to the plaza. The mood was very serene and quiet and made me feel very calm despite my hectic day.
Trees are a great natural canopy for uplight! and backlight! Or just light in general. Architectural designers are constantly designing lighting specifically for trees! Nice!
