Week 1/2

I was on the bus on my way to see "Vietgone" at South Coast Repertory and was absolutely blown away by this view out the window and quickly snapped a picture. Not only are the colors of the sky just beautiful and soft, but what strikes me about this view is the contrast in this image. The sky against its surroundings is very unique to me. I love the soft light of the sky against the dark, angular, and sharp silhouette of the urban setting with the traffic light, the freeway, the Irvine sign, the wires, etc. I think this establishes a beautiful contrast between the busy nature of rush hour and city life and the sweeping calmness of the sky. I love the geometric shapes of the freeway against the organic movement and light of the clouds. The soft and colorful light of the sky establishes a calm atmosphere and the rushing and busy life below blends in harmony with the tranquility of the clouds.

  1. oh yes I love that contrast! It's a very soft, smooth natural sunset against the sharp urban industrial city life...very different energies being portrayed too! I also love the architectural focus on the "Irvine" sign. haha nice!
